Duration: 5 Days

SUBSCRIPTIONS DEADLINE: 01/01/2023 17:00:37
The path of Self-realization, introduced to the world by Paramhansa Yogananda, has the power to meet the needs of humanity in this new age and to prepare us for the great changes we are facing in these times of equally great challenges and opportunities for growth. In this week, we will tune in to Yogananda and explore his transformative teachings. It also includes the celebration of Yogananda's birthday on January 5.

Paramhansa Yogananda had a world mission: to inspire all souls with love for God and to share the teachings and practices of Kriya Yoga. He was sent to the West by Babaji to teach this technique which can bring us to the direct innerexperience of God’s presence.

During this week, we will share many stories about his life and Swami Kriyananda's life with the Master. We will have the opportunity to practice the techniques that Yogananda taught us, such as devotional chanting, affirmations, and healing prayers; we will also give you the opportunity to ask questions about your own practice. We will share the deep blessing of meditating together and drawing the Master's presence into our hearts.

Whether you are a disciple of Yogananda, or have only just heard of him, you will find this course inspiring, uplifting and full of joy as we celebrate his birthday together on the evening of 5 January!

'The path of Kriya yoga is a very important thing in history.
I’m absolutely certain it’s going to be instrumental in changing the course of religion.'
'Master [Yogananda], when I asked him one time, ‘Is this a new religion?’ he corrected me.
He said, ‘It’s a new expression.’'
. . .'Kriya yoga is the most sophisticated technique of yoga,
and therefore Kriya yoga is bound to have an enormous impact
on the future of our world. It can’t be otherwise.'
—Swami Kriyananda (from a discourse in June, 2011)

'I once said to him, “Sir, after you are gone, will you be as close to us as you are now?”
“To those who think me near,” he replied, “I will be near.”'
—Swami Kriyananda from Paramhansa Yogananda: a Biography

"When I am gone, only love will take my place."
    —Paramhansa Yogananda

    God’s Boatman

I want to ply my boat, many times,
    Across the gulf-after-death,
    And return to earth’s shores
    From my home in heaven.

I want to load my boat
    With those waiting, thirsty ones
    Who are left behind:
And carry them by the opal pool
    Of iridescent joy—

    Where my Father distributes
    His all-desire-quenching liquid peace.'

—Paramhansa Yogananda— from Whispers from Eternity

He was particularly attracted by the books of Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda, and in 1985 he moved from Brescia to Lake Como, where the Ananda Europa community was located at the time.

After training as an Ananda Yoga teacher at Ananda Village in California, from 1997 until 2004 he taught yoga and the practices and basic principles of Kriya Yoga, both in the programs at Ananda and in courses and seminars in various Italian cities. He was invited by the University La Sapienza of Rome to teach a two-year course sponsored by a well-known pharmaceutical company, studying the effects of yoga on patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.
From 2005 to 2010, with his wife Gitanjali, he lived mainly in India at the newly founded Ananda community in Gurgaon, spreading the ideals of community life and the teachings of Kriya Yoga through seminars and satsangs in several urban centers of India.

Upon returning to Ananda Assisi, in recent years he has been mainly involved in organizing guest programs and coordinating Ananda's teaching staff.
