treads his chosen path for a time, then leaves once more solitarily.
His is a sacred destination, always dimly suspected, though usually not consciously known.
Whether deliberately or by blind instinct, directly or indirectly,
what all men are truly seeking is Joy—Joy infinite, Joy eternal, Joy divine."
—Swami Kriyananda The New Path
The spiritual quest in the modern age is no longer limited to those who wish to embrace traditional monastic life. Millions of people around the world, in every life situation, are feeling the call to dedicate themselves to the search for God.
Swami Kriyananda founded a "renunciate order," for those who feel dedicated to following the inner path of renunciation, understood not as depriving ourselves of anything, but as embracing those attitudes and activities that lead us to bliss. This order is open to all who feel such an inner call, whether single, married, divorced or widowed, parents or grandparents, disciples of Yogananda or not.
During this weekend, we explore the concept of inner renunciation, with helpful tips and practices for moving beyond selfish desires and attachments and experiencing an expansion of one's identity.
On Saturday afternoon, an initiation ceremony will be held for those who wish to join this order and will provide an opportunity for those who are already members to renew their vows or commit on a deeper level.
Those who intend to participate are strongly advised, if they have not already done so, to read the book A Renunciate Order for the New Age, by Swami Kriyananda.
Those who wish to take a vow should contact one of these ministers before the ceremony.

Course teachers: Vinaya Serra and Ranjit Scutti, with other Ananda teachers
Your teachers:
Tyagi Ranjit Scutti is a yoga and meditation teacher who had his training at Ananda Assisi; he has been a resident of the community since 2001. From an early age he was searching for a spiritual path and at the age of 12 read the Autobiography of a Yogi for the first time. This reading shaped his life, and in the following years he set out to find his own spiritual path, because he did not know that Yogananda's teachings had been brought to Italy by Swami Kriyananda. In 2000, by chance, he received a flyer mentioning Ananda Assisi; when he read that a direct disciple of Yogananda had founded a community, he took his car and immediately went in search of this place, from which he never left. Here he married Vinaya, and together they worked in organic business for many years, eventually opening an organic store in Borgo Rajarsi, near Ananda. They are both Tyagis and live by the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and love to share them with others.
Tyagi Vinaya Serra was born in Rome and worked for many years in various parts of the world; in this wandering she felt the need for spiritual guidance, Paramhansa Yogananda over and over again sent her specific messages, through the Autobiography of a Yogi which was continually given to her but which she never read. She felt a great attraction to those two deep eyes on the cover and always promised herself to read the book, until one day, after coming to Ananda on business, someone gave her yet another Autobiography as a gift, at which point she read it. Her life was completely transformed, thanks in part to Swami Kriyananda, whom she met soon after, to the point that she immediately moved to live in the community. There she met Ranjit, who would later become her husband, and with whom she lives her marriage as a service to the Guru and to God. She specialized in iridology and ayurveda, and opened a small school where she teaches manual arts while chanting mantras. Together with Ranjit, she runs the organic store in Borgo Rajarsi.
