Helmut
Helmut was born in Germany near Heidelberg, where he studied the restoration of ornamental stucco, and worked in this field for 8 years. He met Swami Kriyananda in Frankfurt in 1979, and received Kriya Initiation for the first time in 1981, the same year he married Mayadevi.
He lived at Ananda Village in California for 2 years (1985-86). He returned to Europe in 1987, and helped to launch the Ananda Center in Assisi, where he has served with great dedication in many areas of the community. For 10 years, he worked at Inner Life (Ananda Assisi Cooperative), and in the past four years, he has focused on establishing the Ananda gardens and forming Terre di Luce (Ananda's agricultural cooperative). He also serves as a Lightbearer and with his wife, Mayadevi, guides pilgrimages to India.
Helmut loves working in contact with plants and with nature, which he considers one of the most beautiful temples of God. He loves to sing Swamiji's music, which he finds very inspiring and uplifting, and which was his main motive for moving to Ananda, next to his desire to find God.
