Swamiji's Discipleship Anniversary
The ideal disciple, like Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, is not a mindless passive follower, but rather a thoughtful devotee who has a passionate desire to know the truth and who asks sincere questions in order to deepen his understanding. He attunes himself to his Master's consciousness and, through a process of "intuitive osmosis," attracts the knowledge that opens the door to Self-realization. In everything he does, he sets aside his ego and becomes a channel. We can all become ideal disciples by being inspired by Swami's life, totally dedicated to serving God and the Guru. Let us join together to reflect on his life as a disciple and honor his inspiring example.
"We can find spiritual teachings in books, but what the great teachers bring is actually their consciousness. As disciples, we must try to attune ourselves can the Master's consciousness, with his loving presence and guidance in every act of our lives."
-Swami Kriyananda: Discipleship, the divine story of love
