Copy of Gurupurnima
We celebrate the light of the Guru!
On this reverent occasion we will share an inspiring and profound evening together, enjoying an special celebration, using mantra, purification and devotional ceremonies to prepare us to receive the light of the Guru.
The word ‘Guru’ means ‘dispeller of darkness’, and ‘he is who greater or bigger than’. In reverence and infinite joy we join together this year to observe and celebrate Gurupurnima, the night on which the Guru’s energy is said to be 1000 times more active than at any other time throughout the year. Together we will offer ourselves at His Lotus Feet and open our hearts to receive His all-pervading blessing.
In yogic lore it is said that this was the night on which Shiva became the first Guru (Adiguru), transmitting the keys to yogic ecstasy to the seven loyal followers who remained with him through a lifetime of faithful devotion. The energy of the Guru itself transcends form, and in this energy of universal and united discipleship we come together in profound gratitude and reverence, offering our devotion and unceasing thanks for the opportunity to live in the Light, as the Guru shows us the way to an ever-deeper clarity, joy and perception of Divine Truth.
