Course: ONLINE EVENT: Easter with your Spiritual Family
Divine Light will surely shine on this special Easter, which we will spend in deep communion with Jesus and all of our precious spiritual family. An experience of rebirth and victory that will see us united virtually, from heart to heart, in the Temple of Light.
We have just lived through a year of great tests and equally great blessings. In this Easter season, we have an opportunity to renew and deepen our faith in Christ and the great masters, who are with us in every moment, guiding and protecting us. Together, we will experience the profound meaning of Easter as once again, it comes to illuminate our lives.
In this blessed weekend, we will seek to find the glorious meaning of the Resurrection, and together to ask Christ to resurrect our spirit of brotherhood, the spirit of unity among us, among all of God's children, rays of the One Light.
This year we are specially blessed to have Nayaswami Asha, spiritual director of Ananda Palo Alto in California, with us. Asha is one of the most gifted teachers at Ananda, and will share her wisdom born of over 50 years on the spiritual path, with joy, humor, and humility. She will be giving a satsang on Saturday afternoon.
The highlights of our program:
Friday 2 April
On Good Friday, we will meditate together for 4 hours from 15:00 to 19:00, corresponding to the last hours of Christ’s life. For us this is a time of great joy celebrating the Mahasamadhi (conscious exit from the body) of one of the world’s great Avatars. In the evening, there will be a Purification Ceremony and songs by the small Ananda Choir.
Saturday 3 April
In the morning, there will be separate lessons on Zoom by two of our most experienced teachers. Uma will speak in English, and at the same time Jayadev will offer a lesson in Italian. They will share their experience and understanding of what Easter and the teachings of Jesus mean in this particular historical moment.
In the afternoon there will be two simultaneous lessons of Ananda Yoga with Christ: in Italian with Jayadev and in English with Bhajana. After this, we will all be with Nayaswami Asha, who will speak on the topic, "Jesus, Source of Hope". (Speaking in English, translated into Italian).
Easter Sunday morning, 4 April
At 6:30, we meet for Kirtan, meditation and the traditional dressing of the cross, transforming it as a symbol of our own inner transformation. We invite you to prepare an offering to the cross or to an image of Christ: a flower, a fruit, a prayer or a quality you want to transform, a ribbon or beautifully colored fabric ... A symbolic offering of the inner light, of the fruits of your labors, of your qualities and of your whole heart to Jesus who is risen. This we will do together at 6.30 on Sunday, in the Temple of Light, and in your homes.
At 11:00 (new timing) will be Sunday service
In the evening, there will be a musical program featuring pieces from Swami Kriyananda's Oratorio, "Christ Lives".
Monday, 5 April
A presentation by the Ananda Deva Loka theater group. (Only in Italian)
For the complete program, see the General program below.
With warmth and wisdom, Nayaswami Asha weaves spiritual teaching into daily, ordinary life. She is a master teacher, considered by many to be one of the most nuanced and clear teachers of Yoga in the world today.
Asha was a spiritual seeker since her early youth. While studying at Stanford University in 1969, she heard Swami Kriyananda speak for the first time. “I knew the moment he walked into the room that he possessed the consciousness I had long been seeking.”
She soon became a founding member of the new community Swami was starting near Nevada City, California, called Ananda Village, based on Yogananda’s dream of world brotherhood colonies for “simple living and high thinking.”
Swami Kriyananda placed Asha in the role of teaching and counseling soon after her arrival. She also served as Swami's correspondence secretary and personal assistant for many years. Since 1987, she has served as spiritual director in Ananda Palo Alto.
Tyagi Jayadev Jaerschky has practiced yoga and meditation for thirty-five years, following the Kriya Yoga tradition of Paramhansa Yogananda through his disciple Swami Kriyananda. He has lived and taught at the Ananda center near Assisi for nearly thirty years, where he serves as a Kriyacharya. He has taught in many European countries and in India, Egypt, Russia and the United States. He is the director of the Ananda Yoga European School, where he trains new yoga teachers along with others, and is the author of many books.
Nayaswami Uma Macfarlane is a Kriyacharya, Counselor and Raja Yoga Teacher. An astute counselor and teacher, Uma offers a number of classes on Raja Yoga at the Ananda Assisi center.
A student and teacher of yogic philosophy and spiritual science for 40 years, Uma lived for many years at Ananda Village in California, where served for a time as secretary for Swami Kriyananda.
She has taught at Ananda communities in the United States, as well in India and many parts of Europe. A native of the England, she brings wonderful wit and charming warmth to her classes as well as obvious depth of experience. She is currently serving in our Assisi, Italy retreat.
Nayaswami Bhajana MacDow is a native of Austria and is married to Nayaswami Kabir. She first came to Ananda in 1999 and moved to Ananda Assisi that year. Since then, Bhajana has resided in Ananda communities in Europe, India and the U.S. Since 2002, she has shared the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, in Italy, India, Austria, the United Arab Republic, and currently in the United States.
She received her Ananda Yoga Teacher diploma in 2003. Having studied extensively with Gyandev, the founder of Ananda Yoga, she was authorized by him to create an Ananda Yoga Teacher Training program in India and to certify teachers there.
During her periods of residence at Ananda Assisi she is on the teaching staff for courses and activities in yoga, pranayama, chakras, and she also assists in the Raja Yoga Teacher Training and Life Therapy programs.
